Meet the Author
Shanita is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) with a Master of Science degree in Applied Behavior Analysis from the Florida Institute of Technology and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Florida State University. She has been serving individuals with Developmental Disabilities throughout the Central Florida and Tampa Bay area since 2003.
In 2018, Shanita was inspired to pursue her childhood dream of becoming a published author. She wrote 9 books in a series that she titled, Let’s Go Dreaming. Her books inspire young minds to dream big and allows readers to see the world through the eyes of Little Ari and her talking dog, Pepper. Her stories get readers excited to fall asleep so that they can have wonderful adventures in their dreams. Stories also teach important lessons about acceptance, diversity, friendship, and bullying.
Shanita self-published her first book, “Sleep, Tiny Dreamer” in September 2019, followed by “What is a Dream” in 2020 and “Let’s Go Dreaming Into the Stars” in 2021. Each book encourages children to think of all of the endless possibilities of what they can be and where they can go when they dare to dream…literally!
On September 21, 2019, Shanita had her first book signing at New River Library in Pasco County, where she also put on a LIVE production of her second book, "What is a Dream?"
Shanita was featured in the Daily Ridge, a news publication in Polk County, announcing the release of her first book, "Sleep, Tiny Dreamer", second book, "What is a Dream", and her third book, "Into the Stars".
Shanita’s book, "Sleep, Tiny Dreamer" has been featured on “Tucked-In Tuesdays,” where Elementary School principal, Dr. Belinda George (seen on Good Morning America, The Steve Harvey Show, and featured in Essence Magazine), reads bedtime stories every Tuesday night on Facebook Live, as well as Kristen Hampton Good News, and KidVision Pre-K with Miss Penny from PBS.
Shanita worked with the Early Learning Coalition of Polk County to organize a Writer’s Workshop and Little Dreamer’s Book Club for preschool children, and was featured on the front page of The Lakeland Ledger as well as the Florida Tech Newsletter, her Alma Mater.
Also, see her Media Kit for more info about her book series.
